Arthur Street Children’s Centre

About Us

Nurture One Arthur Street Children’s Centre is conveniently located close to Grafton CBD and is open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. Our care and education centre is large however has been designed to create an intimate homelike feel to encourage children to feel comfortable in their learning environment.

Our outdoor playscape encourages interaction and growth through different experiences. All children are given the opportunity to help out in the centre’s vegetable & herb garden, helping with planting, watering and harvesting the produce. The produce is then used in our daily meals. This is a fantastic sense of belonging and identity that gives the children a true sense of pride and achievement .

Nutritious homemade meals are prepared on the premises on a daily basis with specific food requirements catered for.

We strongly believe in and value the benefits of play-based learning, and have adopted the Early Years Learning Framework at our childcare centre. We also value the interaction of families with their children, and support families in their role as the child’s first teachers.

Nurturing our children and helping them to grow and learn during their time with us is what we really love doing and is why our childcare centre is such a happy place.

We welcome you to contact the childcare centre in Grafton or drop by at any time to meet the team and learn more.

Our centre proudly offers a kindergarten/preschool program to ensure your child is supported for their transition to school every step of the way. With a focus on language, literacy, numeracy, social skills and more your child will become ready for school.

Director Profile

Sarah Tobin

Childcare Centre Manager, Nurture One Arthur Street Children's Centre

I began my early childhood education and care career in 2005 and started working at Nurture One Arthur Street Children’s Centre in 2016-2017 as a lead educator in the preschool age group. In October 2020, I commenced my role as the Centre Manager. I hold a Bachelor of Teaching in early childhood and have worked within the early childhood sector for 15 years in various settings.

In my early childhood education and care career, I have learnt that children are active and unique learners, and as teachers, we need to adopt a collaborative approach to planning being flexible and involving them in the process. Providing opportunities for all learning styles in the environment is critical for the most inclusive outcomes.

Many people influence a child’s learning and development. Early education and care encourage holistic development and build the foundation for enthusiasm for learning as trained professionals build on the skills and areas for development with the child.

Our team is extremely passionate about creating a centre that is a home away from home for both families and children, where our team celebrates the diversity of all cultures.

Our team value the importance of strong partnerships in meeting the individual child’s needs and respecting each family as unique.
A culture of continuous improvement is evident within our team of educators through a commitment to professional development, reflection and implementation of contemporary learning and practices.

It’s a busy life we all lead, and we understand that parents need a place where they can drop off their precious bundle to people who genuinely care about them and help them in those crucial first five years of their learning journey.

The great African Proverb states, “it takes a village to raise a child,” and this could not be truer to the experience we provide here. With many of our team having children of their own, we have all been or are going through the process of child care and early learning – we are proud to offer support where possible – from helping our families to enrol, applying for the Child Care Subsidy or even tips to help with fussy eaters. We’re here to help.
