Welcome to Nurture One Cowes Children’s Centre.
Our care and education service is open from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm and provides quality long day care and education for children from zero to six years. For your convenience, nappies and nutritious meals are supplied.
Cowes Children’s Centre is located close to town on Phillip Island and is a state of the art building with nicely equipped rooms. The childcare centre has four rooms. Our nursery is a lovely space, designed for infants and has a separate safe sleeping room with lullaby music and twinkle lights. Our toddler room is a lovely sized room with lots of opportunity for discovery and shares space with our resident fish. Our three year old Kinder room offers a huge room with plenty of experiences and room to explore. Our four year old Kinder room, is spaced just right for a small group to have a curriculum geared towards interest and school preparation and readiness. We have an amazing qualified Early Childhood Teacher, Bianca who teaches our Kinder Program.
We pride ourselves on offering the Early Years Learning Framework curriculum, based heavily on children’s interests – we believe children learn through interest based play. We embrace our local community and are active members.
We are passionate about sustainable practices and at our centre we have a veggie patch, food compost, worm farm and we collect our food scraps for families within our centre who have chickens. Our centre cooks use resuable bags when shopping for food for our centre. We are incorporating as many experiences as possible to bring us back to nature.
We believe our centre is what it is, because of our partnership with the children, families, each other and the community. We respect each other and encourage continual learning and innovative input. We find joy in every day and bring this with us to share children’s journeys as they discover who they are and the world around them.
We welcome you to contact the centre or drop by at any time to meet the team and learn more.
Our Kindergarten program is supported by the Victorian Government.
I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2019 and started working at Nurture One Cowes in 2019. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and I’m trained in First aid and Anaphylaxis; I also have a Diploma in Nursing with over 8 years’ of experience. In my free time, I do a lot of reading on early education to be able to provide the best guidance and assistance to my clients, my centre, employees and of course the children!
Having two young children of my own inspired me to change my career path, as I discovered the need for quality education and care for all children.
Completing my diploma and starting work in early childhood increased my knowledge in childhood experiences, stages and development and the important role educators play to support and enhance children’s learning. As a parent myself, it is very rewarding to be a part of a child’s and their families support network.
I believe that children thrive when they feel safe, secure and supported to learn through play, have fun, be inquisitive and express themselves. Each child is unique, with that in mind we aim to support children as they learn about their strengths and continue taking on new challenges by providing a rich environment and activities that are interest based as part of our program.
Some of life’s hardest challenges, give the greatest reward. As educators we are lucky enough to see children face challenges nearly every day, support them and share in their achievements. Some children are with us from as little as six weeks right up until they are ready to start school. Those first years go so fast, it is a privilege to be a part of it.
Our passionate and trained team of educators work closely with each other and families to provide engaging experiences that are carefully chosen to be fun for play based learning. Our programming has a collaborative approach to incorporate the Early Years Learning Framework and Learning Outcomes. Most of all, children are building friendships and learning together in a safe and supportive environment.
Each member of our team brings something different, with their diverse backgrounds, links to our local community and creative ideas but together we have a shared vision and philosophy to support the children in our care through their journey to belonging, being and becoming.
We aim to form close relationships with children in our care and their families. We do this through open, honest communication, listening to concerns, seeking feedback and working together to achieve the best outcomes possible.

See what some of our parents say about our centre:
“My daughter Bonnie has been in the Baby room, Toddler room and now that she is 3 years old, in the Pre-Kinder room. We started with one day a week, and I now have her in for two days (which allows me to work in our business). My Son Billy had the same timetable before starting Prep this year.
The Educators are just fantastic, I have so much confidence in them with leaving my little daughter in their care. They are not only friendly, by greeting me in the morning and remembering my name, they welcome Bonnie perfectly as soon as she walks into the room with excited friendly faces and discussions with her of what adventures they will get up to that day.
I would like to mention in particular Steph and Hope who do an outstanding job. They have a great ability to be an authoritative figure to the children and at the same time being very kind and caring. They are very, very good at what they do.
Emma, Carly, Bonnie & Amanda are also absolutely fantastic! We are not locals to the area and have only purchased our home 4.5 years ago. We own a Building Company and I understand how important it is to have the right people to work with. That is why I thought you would like to hear this excellent feedback of your Nurture One Centre in Cowes.”
“We love Nurture One the team of educators are fantastic. Our son has been attending there for the past couple of years and has thrived in the nurturing environment. The introduction of the new Kindergarten program this year has exceeded all expectations getting them ready for school next year (we will be sad to leave). With a dedicated loving team of educators and a nurturing happy environment what more could a parent ask for. Thank you ladies XX”
“Nuture One in Cowes is truly a great child care centre. The staff genuinely care, the facilities are great and the kids are happy and free. My daughter has now been attending for over a year and she loves it (and she wasn’t happy at the child care centre we have been to previously). The Kinder program is excellent and has exceeded my expectations. Thanks Cowes Nuture One. We really appreciate the great work you all do!”
“Great Early Learning Program, well catered to provide excellent long day care for pre-school aged children. Staff are very committed to providing best service possible”
